Group Hire

Group HireNottingham Community Transport currently have 3 wheelchair accessible minibuses and 2 standard minibuses available for local voluntary or charitable groups to use. The vehicles can carry up to 16 passengers plus the driver and are all fitted with seat belts.

If you would like to hire a vehicle from us, Groups must first register with us. We have a duty to ensure that they are being used by legitimate groups and not as a cheap transport alternative to profit making organisations. Membership is considered by members of the Committee. There is an annual membership fee which we use towards continuation of the services. Currently £25 plus VAT (£30).

The wheelchair accessible vehicles have seats that can be removed to accommodate passengers that may wish to travel in their own wheelchairs (seating capacity can be reduced to accommodate passengers travelling in their wheelchair). Equipment is supplied to ensure that all passengers travel safely whilst in their wheelchair, this includes tie-downs for the wheelchair and seat belts for the passenger. They are also fitted with tail-lifts so that passengers can board and alight without difficulty. There is also a low step entry to the front of the vehicle so that less ambulant passengers can board easily. All vehicles are to DiPTAC specification.

The standard minibuses are ideal for groups who have members that are more ambulant. There is no low step or tail-lift and the seats are not removable but they are high roofed so that passengers can stand when getting in our out, these vehicles are fully air-conditioned.

Our minibuses and access equipment are inspected daily by drivers and checked weekly to ensure they are roadworthy. All minibuses are serviced every 12 weeks to add extra safety measures and in line with those of our operating licence.

There are regulations surrounding the use of these minibuses and as they can change periodically our staff are happy to discuss these with you.

MiDAS Training

In line with Nottingham Community Transport policy, and as recommended by the Community Transport Association (CTA) all approved drivers will need to have successfully completed a training course under the minibus driver awareness scheme (MiDAS) The scheme has been designed to enhance driving standards and promote the safer operation of minibuses.

All authorised drivers must be MiDAS trained with a minimum basic certificate for non-wheelchair accessible vehicles and a full MiDAS certificate for vehicles equipped with a passenger lift for wheelchair access.

Nottingham Community Transport has a number of approved MiDAS trainers and therefore we are able to provide training at preferential rates.
The cost of training will be at the expense of your respective group, or alternatively you can make arrangements to organise your own training independently.

MiDAS certificates are valid for a period of four years.

Cleaning

We take the cleanliness of our minibuses seriously and will charge any group that leaves a minibus in an unacceptable or dirty condition.

You can be assured that when you board one of our vehicles it is fuelled, clean, safe and ready to use.

Accidents

Should you have an accident (which is your fault) then your group will be liable for the insurance excess.
